TGS AND ANSAC MAKE SODA ASH
LOADING SYSTEM A SUCCESS
Trans-Global
Solutions, Inc. has completed and begun operation of a unique rail-to-ship bulk
cargo transfer facility at the Port of Beaumont, Texas. The facility was
developed in a public-private partnership between the port and Trans-Global
Solutions, Inc. The new facility was designed to accommodate bulk soda ash, but
can efficiently handle any free-flowing bulk material.
The new rail-to-ship
transfer facility is unique in that it is capable of unloading two railcars at
a time. This ability allows TGS/Beaumont Bulk Terminal, the
division of Trans-Global Solutions, Inc. that operates the facility, to
discharge up to 116 average railcars per day, each containing an estimated 90
tons of cargo. This discharge rate will allow 10,000 tons of material to be
loaded into a typical bulk carrier vessel per day.
The new rail-to-ship
facility was designed, built and installed by the TGS/Engineering &
Conveying Systems division of Trans-Global Solutions, Inc. The
rail-to-ship facility is equipped with a state-of-the-art dust suppressor
system for environmentally sound operation. The loading system includes a
high-tech loading spout capable of loading and trimming ships even in high
river conditions.
Rail service to
facility is provided by four railroads: Burlington Northern-Santa Fe, Union
Pacific, Kansas City Southern and the Texas-Mexican Railroad. For more
