West Fork of Chocolate Bayou Detention Basins and Earthwork Phase 1A & Phase 1B to Serve Meridiana
Location: Iowa Colony, TX
The Detention Basins to Serve Meridiana are a “Chain of Lakes” that all interconnect and outfall into Chocolate Bayou. The basins will serve as detention reservoirs for a future 300 acre master planned community called Meridiana and also will retain a certain amount of water for amenity features for the future neighborhood. The major work activities included the excavation of over 850,000 cubic yards of fill material placed on-site, approximately 4,230 linear feet of 24” – 72” reinforced concrete storm pipe, 110 linear feet of 6’ x 6’ reinforced concrete box and 82 linear feet of 8’ x 7’ reinforced concrete box, 460 linear feet of 30” – 60” HDPE storm sewer outfall pipes, two major headwall structures and two major architectural concrete circular headwalls. We are also constructing detention and amenity ponds and fill placement for the neighborhoods future rec center and a future elementary school. This rec center construction also includes two large concrete headwalls and a concrete lake edge bulkhead.
