TGS
/ Beaumont Bulk Terminal

Trans-Global
Solutions, Inc. operates the TGS/Beaumont Bulk Terminal
at the Port of Beaumont, Texas. Operations include loading
and unloading commodities as diverse as woodchip weighing
25 pounds per cubic foot to steel pigs weighing over 200 pounds
per cubic foot. An extensive conveyor system efficiently handles
commodities both inbound and outbound. Rail and highway access
is excellent.
One
mile downstream from the Port on the Neches River is the Exxon/Mobil
Coke Dock (EMCD). Located within the Exxon/Mobil refinery,
the facility is operated by TGS/Beaumont Bulk Terminal.
TGS/BBT operates and maintains a conveyor/shiploader
system that was designed, engineered, and fabricated by TGS/Engineering
& Conveying Systems and erected by TGS/Construction
& Erection, two of Trans-Global Solutions' operating
divisions.
The
newest project at TGS/Beaumont Bulk Terminal is a rail-to-ship
transfer system. The new facility can efficiently handle any
free-flowing bulk material. The new rail-to-ship transfer
facility is unique in that it is capable of unloading two
railcars at a time. This ability will enable the system to
discharge 116 average railcars per day, each containing an
estimated 90 tons of cargo. This discharge rate will allow
10,000 tons of material per day to be loaded into a typical
bulk carrier vessel.
The
new facility was designed, built, and installed by TGS/Engineering
& Conveying Systems. The rail-to-ship facility is
equipped with a state-of-the-art dust suppression system for
environmentally-sound operation. The loading system, which
delivers the cargo into the ship's holds, includes a high-tech
loading spout capable of loading and trimming ships even in
high river conditions.
Within
the Port of Beaumont TGS/Beaumont Bulk Terminal also
operates the Neches River Terminal (NRT). The facility
is jointly owned by Trans-Global Solutions, Inc. and Mitsubishi
Corporation.
Hardwood
chips are brought to the NRT by truck, unloaded by
an elevating truck dump, and stockpiled through radial stackers.
The chips are then reclaimed and transferred by conveyor to
the TGS shiploader for loading into ocean-going bulk
carriers. The entire system was designed, engineered, and
erected by TGS/Engineering & Conveying Systems.
Within
the Port of Beaumont, all rail switching services are provided
by TGS/Econo-Rail on a contract basis.
